Populations are characterized by their size, spacing, and population density.
Size: The size of a population is the number of individual organisms that it contains. The size of a population is always changing, although some populations can change more rapidly than others.
Spacing: Refers to how the organisms are arranged in a given area.
Population Density: The size of a population that occupies a space of limited size.

Ecology: the study of relationships between organisms and their environments
Biotic Factor: living or once living organisms in the environment
Abiotic Factor: all the nonliving physical features of the environment, i.e.: water, soil, light, temperature, etc
Organism: a single individual from a population
Population: all the individuals of one species that live and reproduce in the same area at the same time
Community: made up of populations of different species that interact in some way
Ecosystem: made up of communities and all the abiotic factors that affect them
Biosphere: the highest level of biological organization; made up of all the ecosystems on Earth.
