Extinction

Learning Target:

Students will identify the trade-offs in deciding whether to save an endangered species or to recreate an extinct one.

Key Concepts:

1.Making decisions about complex issues often involves trade-offs (i.e. giving up one thing in favor of another).

2.Many life forms have gone extinct in the past.

3.Extinction can be related to environmental changes.

4.Extinct species often have living relatives, i.e. closely related species that live on after them.

Extra:

Additional information from BBC Nature about the Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction (also known as the K/T extinction) – famed for the death of the dinosaurs.
